MHASC is an ILCA (formerly known as ‘Laser’) dinghy sailing club suitable for a wide range of younger and older adults, and welcomes new members committed to active sailing.
The ILCA dinghy is ideal who those who are passionate about dinghy sailing, wanting to keep fit, active, and having fun on the water. The Club races ILCA 4, 6 & 7 rigs to cater for a range of sailor weights and abilities.
MHASC encourages and supports ‘active participation’ and generally all members own an ILCA (Laser) and sail with the club on race days. Many members also participate in the ILCA Metro, State, National and International competitions which provide added dimensions of challenge and wonderful experiences.
The club offers some of the best sailing in Sydney, with easy access to the waters of Middle Harbour or the Sound.
Organised club racing is held on Sundays when there are fewer clubs racing. The Race Calendar runs from early September until late April. Winter Racing is held monthly during the off-season. Members also organise their own mid-week sailing and practice sessions on their own accord.
Club facilities include boat storage, members room, kitchen, change rooms, some parking, and outdoor deck overlooking Middle Harbour.
The club house holds forty-eight boats and has racks available for financial members on the condition that they actively participate in the Club’s sailing programme.
The club is run and maintained by members. There are no paid staff and member volunteer contribution is expected and valued.
